FAQ

  • Do I need to have had any previous actor training or experience to enrol at Studio13?
    No prior acting experience or training is required. Everyone, including experienced actors, and non-actors alike, start together at the beginning. We do, however, expect those enrolling in our classes to demonstrate a solid commitment to study and a professional attitude to the work.
  • When and how often are the classes?
    Our classes currently run weekday evenings and Saturday daytime. Students enrolling on our Introductory Foundation Module will attend class once per week, however, once a student has attained a certain level of understanding of the technique, they are welcome to attend additional sessions being run without any additional cost.
  • How long are the classes?
    Each class is 3.5 hours in duration.
  • How much do classes cost?
    Our current pricing structure for courses are as follows: Module 1 - An Introduction to the Meisner Techniquye, 8 weeks duration costs £175 Thereafter, students enrolling onto intermediate and advanced modules pay £21.80 per session, paid monthly in advance.
  • Where are you based?
    Our new studio is located in Castle House on Castle Street in the heart of Sheffield City Centrel. As well as being the home to our spacious and modern acting studio, it is also home to some of Sheffield's leading film and post-production companies as well as being the home of Kommune, Sheffield's innovative all-day dining and events space, which we will be using in 2022 for live theatre events.
  • How do i get there by public transport?
    There are excellent bus and tram routes into Sheffield City Centre. If you would ike to find out more check out www.travelsouthyorkshire.com for specific routes and times. For those coming from outside the area, we are approx. a 10 minute walk from Sheffield's central railway station.
  • Is there nearby parking?
    Parking is available in the surrounding streets and there are two NCP car parks, both within close proximity to our studio.
  • Is there disabed access?
    Yes.
  • Am I too old to start acting classes?
    Absolutely not! Whatever age you are now, it is never too late to pursue your dreams and learn to act - in fact, it could be argued that embarking on an acting career later in life can, in some ways, be an advantage.   • Is there a qualification if I complete the full two-years training programme?
    We are currently formulating an accredited 'Certificate of Meisner Acting' qualification and hope to encorporate this into our actor training programme in the near future.
  • Do you support actors who want to learn more about ths business side of the acting industry?
    Yes. We beieve that this is an essential part of becoming a successful, working actor. From time to time, we run industry 'know how' workshops led by industry professionals to help our actors find their way through the maze of industry do's and don'ts.
